Dorm Room1:
When I entered the dorm room I noticed that the students had their furniture set up so the room was set up into two different sections. However, it was not like how any other dorm room is divided. One students side of the room was towards the back of the room, near the window. The other student had the side of the room that was closer to the door. There were many different bright colors throughout the room such as pinks, greens and blues. Also. they had many pictures of family and friends. They did have a TV or much furniture either.
Dorm Room 2:
In this dorm room the room was divided like how any other dorm room usually is. One student gets the right side and the other student gets the left side. Like the other dorm room, there was also many picture hanging up and also they has some stuffed animals and items from back home. These students seemed to have more stuff to do in their dorm. They had a Nintendo Wii, a flat screen TV and also a stereo system. Not only did they have personal pictures hanging up but they also had posters and different types of flags as well. These students both had the same color items, which was blue and white, so the dorm room matched better.
Dorm Room 3:
This dorm room as also set up like dorm number 2. This dorm seemed about the same also, however, they did not have bright colors in their room, it was more red and blue. Instead of a Nintendo Wii they had a PlayStation 4. Also, they seemed to have came to Bloomsburg more prepared with a micro fridge, a coffee maker and also a toaster oven. They did not have any personal pictures hanging up on they walls but they did have some posters. However, there stuff did not match, each roommate had different colored items. One roommate had more red and blue items, while the other one had more black and grey.
What do the data you collect suggest to you about what it means to be a college student?
After seeing many different dorm rooms, I have noticed that each student prefers different things and the way they set up their dorm room can also reflect their personality. In dorm room 1, they had their furniture set up like that because they liked having more personal space, and by having it set up like that, they did not really see much of each other. Also, in dorm 1 and in dorm 2, they both used bright colors because they were dorms that belonged to girls. I'm sure that not many guys would have bright colors such as girls. The one pattern that I did notice however is that each dorm room had something in it that would remind the student of home, whether y was pictures, video games, or stuffed animals. I feel like this brought them a sense of comfort and helped them feel more at home, while being away from home.
